Background & Rationale

While many rural women engage in income-generating activities, only a few take the leap into entrepreneurship. Limited exposure, risk aversion, and lack of support often prevent ideas from becoming enterprises. The Rural Start-Up Challenge 2025 is designed to inspire, support, and fund rural women who have viable ideas but need validation, encouragement, and financial backing to turn them into thriving start-ups.

This component of the 2nd Rural Udyamita platform will serve as an idea accelerator, where selected women present their enterprise ideas and receive not only funding support but also handholding and mentorship.

This award builds upon the momentum created during the 1st Rural Udyamita and aligns with the broader vision of strengthening the rural entrepreneurship ecosystem under the 2nd Rural Udyamita 2025 platform.

Objective

Identify and nurture high-potential rural startups with scalable solutions.
Provide step-by-step funding tied to milestone achievement.
Bridge gaps in business skills, tech adoption, and market access.
Connect winners with investors, CSR partners, and government schemes.

Open call for idea submissions from rural women
Shortlisting of top 10 promising ideas
Capacity-building & mentorship sessions
Live pitch at the 2nd Rural Udyamita 2025 event
Top 3 winners receive seed capital & post-event handholding support

Focus Sectors

Funding Support

Total Prize: ₹50,000 (per selected idea)
Disbursed in 3 Phases:
1. ₹20,000 upon award announcement
2. ₹15,000 after one-month progress update
3. ₹15,000 upon milestone-based review (3 months post-event)

Eligibility Criteria

Women (18+) from rural/semi-urban areas of Assam or North East India
Idea must be early-stage or pre-launch
Individual or SHG/collective ideas allowed
Must commit to executing the idea within 3 months post-award
Should not have received any major start-up grants previously
