Background & Rationale

Across Assam and the North East, rural women are increasingly taking on entrepreneurial roles — starting small enterprises, building collectives, and innovating within traditional livelihoods. However, their contributions often go unrecognized, and their journeys under-supported. The Rural Udyamita Entrepreneurship Award 2025 seeks to spotlight such change-makers and inspire others by sharing real stories of perseverance, innovation, and impact.

This award builds upon the momentum created during the 1st Rural Udyamita and aligns with the broader vision of strengthening the rural entrepreneurship ecosystem under the 2nd Rural Udyamita 2025 platform.

Objective

To identify, recognize, and celebrate rural women entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptional resilience, innovation, and leadership in building sustainable businesses while creating community-level impact.

Award Categories

Eligibility Criteria

Women entrepreneur from rural or semi-urban areas of Assam or North East India
Must own or co-own the enterprise
Enterprise must be operational for at least 3 years
Business must show a tangible community or economic impact
Open to individual entrepreneurs, collectives, SHG-led ventures, cooperatives and other formats.

Outreach through partner NGOs, SHG federations, district bodies
Self-nomination and third-party nominations allowed
