Enabling Women Entrepreneurship in Assam with Education, Skills & Access

Project Udyamita (Women in Entrepreneurship) is a focused pilot initiative aimed at supporting rural and semi-urban women in Assam to transition from livelihood activities to sustainable entrepreneurship.

The project strengthens women’s financial capability, enterprise skills, and digital inclusion by creating structured support systems within their own communities.

Project Overview

Many women engaged in livelihood activities lack sustained access to entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, credit linkages, digital tools, and enterprise development services. Udyamita bridges this gap by establishing cluster-based support systems that provide continuous handholding, facilitation, training, and access to schemes and services. This is not just a training program — it is a community-based entrepreneurship ecosystem model.

Geography of Implementation

The pilot will be implemented in 5 Women in Entrepreneurship (WIE) clusters in:

5 WIE clusters are being strengthened through structured training, facilitation, and enterprise support.
5 Udyamita Sakhis are being trained and positioned as community enterprise enablers within their clusters.
Nearly 1000 women entrepreneurs are being engaged with skills training, financial literacy, scheme facilitation, and digital integration support.
Digital skills and ICT services are being integrated across handloom, tea, agriculture, and other nano and micro enterprises.
5 clean-energy powered Udyamita Centres are being established to provide ongoing access to information, services, and enterprise development support.
